Imagine if white people could wait longer than a hot minute to teach on something they just learned.
White people aren't used to being seen as wrong & are especially not used to being unheard in society. Something BIPOC face all the time. When white people are challenged by "If you're silent, you're complicit" etc. they've no experience decentering themselves.
Experts have been doing this work longer than you've been aware. Share their work. Buy/give away their books. If you're a leader or influential in other spaces, lend them your mic, your social media, your connections. Divest yourself of the need to be seen & heard. Actions speak.
And I shouldn't have to say it but I also know I have to say it. Pay them for their labor. Pay them for their expertise. This work is exhausting. BIPOC are exhausted. Pay them so they can continue the work that is educating you.
