Don’t be a creep.

If you’re someone that others look up to in any way, for any reason, it’s your responsibility to not take advantage of that trust. This needs to stop happening and I’m especially upset it happens in my industry.
No one, NO ONE, should feel unsafe trying to enjoy a hobby or trying to pursue a profession. We should always be aiming to make our conventions and comic shops a safe space. Outing predators is a painful, yet important part of keeping our community safe.
We (especially men) need to pay attention to our peers and interactions they have with our younger audiences and confront inappropriate behavior before it escalates. Victims outing people is extremely brave, but we should be creating a culture where this doesn’t happen at all.
We all make friends and acquaintances in our industry. The best thing we can do is let our friends and peers know when they’re doing something questionable or creepy or abusive. This can’t keep happening. We need to be better. Please. I want people to feel safe here.
Men, it’s simply not enough for us to just be “one of the good ones”. Actively staying vigilant and stopping these occurrences in their tracks is our responsibility.
