As a small town ER doc I worry that the indoor #TrumpRally in #Tulsa could lead to a hotspot in many small towns as people travel for the event and return home-known as a #SuperSpreader event. I therefore have some questions for @parscale and @realDonaldTrump. Here goes: 1/
Will @realDonaldTrump wear a mask? While he is tested frequently, the tests aren’t perfect with the Abbot dry tests they use at the WH showing up to 48% false negatives. The President wearing a mask is also modelling good behavior for attendees and those watching on TV. 2/
Will masks be mandatory for attendees? This is a large indoor event going against all public health and government recommendations. Masks are effective at blocking transmission of #SARSCoV2, so will you commit to not allowing anyone to enter who will not wear a mask? 3/
Will all Secret Service and campaign staff be wearing masks? Similar to the above regarding testing. It’s likely that at least one member of @realDonaldTrump’s entourage is carrying the virus much like his valet and @Mike_Pence’s Press Secretary were. 4/
Will non-household members be at least 6 ft apart? This is in line with all regulations and recommendations in order to decrease the spread by respiratory droplet. It will shrink the size of the crowd, but it will potentially save lives. 5/
Will all attendees give their names and contact information to be provided to local health officials in the event of an outbreak related to the rally? This will be necessary to perform contact tracing to limit the spread of #COVID19. 6/
Does the liability waiver being signed by attendees also cover the family and other close contacts of attendees? If not, the @realDonaldTrump campaign and #BOKCenter may be sued by others for knowingly hosting a high risk event and not taking every precaution. 7/
If the basic safety precautions listed cannot be guaranteed, I join Tulsa Health Director Dr. Bruce Dart in asking that you please postpone the rally until the #pandemic is under better control nationally, and specifically in Tulsa. /END
