Just a thought regarding MFF. In days, the org brought in nearly 300x their operating budget from last year. The org is small and volunteer run and respected in the community. (1/6)
People donated for BAIL. That means they cannot just USE some of that money to bring on staff or systems to handle this large influx of money. They have to use the money they brought in for bail, literally only to bail people out. That’s their commitment. (2/6)
I understand people want to see how the money is being used, but it can literally take organizations entire YEARS to come up with plans of how to deal with a sudden growth to scale like this. (3/6)
They have to figure out how to now use 35 million dollars FOR BAIL, with the 200k dollars worth of resources before. That is literally NOT compatible with the growth of scale. (4/6)
It is completely fair to want transparency to make sure the money folks gave is being used right. The org literally is bound by tax exempt status and codes to make sure that happens. They are also demonstrating that they’ve used money already for what they said they will. (5/6)
It is completely unfair to lodge uninformed critiques without and understanding of what it takes for an org to experience such expontential growth in so little time. (6/6)
One more thought - uninformed critique like this will literally be used by the right to harm the movement and harm this organization. It’s happened countless times through modern history.
