We’re supporting #StopAdultAbuseWeek a local initiative helping people look out for the most vulnerable members of our communities. We urge you to look out for people in your area, and familiarise yourself with signs of abuse and concern.
This is especially important during the global health crisis, which has had a significant impact on vulnerable adults.
We’re working with partners across Bath, North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucestershire to share advice and guidance on different types of adult abuse, and the support services available to help.
If you or someone you know wants to raise a safeguarding concern please contact our Care Connect team on 01934 888 801
Each day of #StopAdultAbuseWeek looks at a different theme and today is about scams.
Unfortunately, even during a global pandemic, there will always be people looking to scam others. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
Unfortunately, even during a global pandemic, there will always be people looking to scam others. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
A common scam at the moment is offering a coronavirus test in return for a fee – the NHS test and trace service will NEVER ask you to pay for a coronavirus test. Testing is free.
If you or someone you know are targeted by scammers, please report it to the National Cyber Security Centre at https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/information/report-suspicious-emails
Scammers can appear genuine, friendly and can fool anyone. To learn more about different types of scams and howto spot them, visit the @AgainstScams website at https://www.friendsagainstscams.org.uk/
Today #StopAdultAbuseWeek focuses on domestic violence and abuse.
While we've all been staying at home to stay safe from coronavirus, 'at home' isn't safe for everyone.
