It feels increasingly clear that the bucolic morale boost that came with the 1st wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has been misinterpreted.
Healthcare workers stepped up for PATIENTS not for their Trusts.

It feels increasingly clear that the bucolic morale boost that came with the 1st wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has been misinterpreted.
Healthcare workers stepped up for PATIENTS not for their Trusts.
A motivation surge, amazing team spirit, fuelled by abandoning the rule book of NHS bureaucracy,crashing through silos,getting stuck in to caring for patients.
However, as we look to Recovery&Reset-this morale& motivation is crucial for these plans to be even slightly plausible

BUT I’m not sure the morale or motivation remains&I’m not sure that NHS and Trusts realise this at all.
People are tired.Their services are being chopped up (by people who have not consulted them).Huge worry about elective procedures being moved to different Drs at other trusts

Concern re loss of crucial MDT working and clinical academic research. Years of service development at risk due to new rapidly written pathways. People’s whole career plans at risk due to the location of their employment.
And on top of that imagine how you would feel if you had been expecting to actually be paid for the hours of COVID-19 work you did. Only to be told that if it wasn’t job planned it won’t get paid. Increasing reports of this across NHSE.
Conversations with colleagues across the UK over the past week - it is increasingly clear - people are fed up, feel very uncertain, uncertainly = fear and certainly doesn’t = happiness. Morale is sinking rapidly. Amongst consultants and senior nurses. Juniors still ok.
Staff morale again posing a real threat to NHS.
Staff need to be consulted & be in control of Recovery and Reset and any reparations resolved. Urgently.
