it's kinda interesting that in the wake of atheists being a-holes online, that anti-religious claims are generally hated. like, i genuinely wonder if me not only being an atheist, but also strongly disliking religion and thinking it's bad, is st ppl would have a problem with lol
it's definitely not a hate that i feel across the board in the same way. but if you believe there's a hell that people ought to suffer in, i think you believe in a disgusting thing and i don't understand how that could possibly square with other, better beliefs you might have
i thought this tweet made it clear, but yes, i know that not all religions invoke an idea of hell. that's why i said "It's definitely not a hate I feel across the board in the same way." because i have a particular disgust with the things christians TEND to believe.
I was listening to a bishop once who said "sure there might be a hell, but i don't think anyone's there." and i thought that was really nice, if an odd workaround.
lol really got a lot o opinions on this. so ill add here that there's not some kind of "disgust-meter" that goes up when someone tells me they believe in some supernatural thing. i just have a really powerful emotional/intellectual aversion to ppl talking about believing in stuff
