Did Queen Anne Boleyn knowingly confuse the public in the days leading up to her execution?

Did the English people simply accept the executioner at his word that the deed had been done?

Joseph Gregory Hallett says yes. ✅

Join me as we begin to dig into the Queen’s royal hoax!
According to Joseph Gregory Hallett, Queen Anne Boleyn’s execution was postponed from 17th May, 1536 to “an unspecified future date.”

She also changed the style of execution from burning at the stake to beheading by axe, then beheading by sword- all without notice to the public.
Hallett informs us that burnings were done at Smithfield, while Noble executions were performed at the Tower of London.

Anyone who was expecting to see the Queen burned would need to walk a mile and a half to The Tower of London to see the beheading, and were unlikely to make it
Anyone who happened to be in the right place at the right time couldn’t see anything but the backs of 300 Extraordinary Yeomen-

crisis actors without uniform, according to Hallett, who were chosen for their “broad shoulders” and "ability to block the view."

⛰️
An additional 150 Ordinary Yeomen with uniforms were called in to fill the role of Palace Guards, and this arrangement would continue through 1550, any time they needed an execution to not be seen, according to Hallett.
Queen Anne Boleyn was executed at the “Scaffold Site” on the Tower Green, which sits on the broad side of the White Tower.

Hallett tells us that the morning of May 19th was chosen because the sun’s glare was at its strongest.

Any onlookers would be unable to see clearly.
Hallett goes on to say that between the changes in dates, locations, and execution styles, the English people became confused and ultimately lost interest.

In the end, they simply accepted the officials at their word that the deed had been done and moved on.
And now that we know how Queen Anne Boleyn made sure no one could see her fake execution, we can move on and find out how they pulled it off!

Check back again next time as we continue down the [🐇] hole!
