Presenting a virtual poster this summer? Here are some tips for how to create a #bettervirtualposter, with examples our lab [1/thread]

Landscape format pdfs require scrolling both vertically and horizontally - not great. We wanted something with vertical-only scroll, that would adapt to different devices (phone/tablet/computer) and which would allow integrated media and hyperlinks [3/thread]
Software-wise, we ended up using the @VismeApp-not free but is easy to use, has beautiful templates, and ed. discounts. With all we’re saving on conference travel, the lab could afford it. If you use an #opensource alternative, let me know! [4/thread]
We focused on making our virtual posters fast to read and visually compelling, trying to replace text with images and clickable content. We included links to pre-prints at the top of the poster for readers who want the details #OpenScience. [5/thread]
Our next upcoming conference is #vICIS2020 @infantstudies. The conference platform allows us to post different links, including a .pdf and a video poster presentation, as well as a Zoom link for question period. We'll post our videos to YouTube after the conference [6/thread]
