None of this is subtle. None of this is about how we should all just sing Kumbaya with people who want to hurt us and it'll all work out. It's about how truly resisting the system is often violent and that violence is how you protect vulnerable people from abuse.
Offer an open hand to those who want to take it and what to reform and atone, but don't be afraid to close it into a fist when people are committed to bigotry and harm. And you don't get a pass for just apologizing, you actively work to make things better and be better.
Critical Role was ALWAYS political. They were always loud about what they believed in. They got louder once they had no corporate masters. All that's changed is they got really explicit about where they stand in the real world. But it was always there for anyone to hear.
And this doesn't even get into their friends, family, and staff. Helping people become their better selves isn't a thought exercise, they've given Brian a platform to talk about his journey and succeed.
Many of their employees are queer. They were the first people Christina used they/them pronouns with. When they asked to change their pronouns, everyone in the company somehow knew in an hour and was using the new ones. They are protecting people they care about from transphobes.
They acknowledged they weren't racially diverse enough and while they haven't changed their core group, they've diversified their guests, hired more POC, and worked with or highlighted other POC artists and community leaders. They're trying to put in the work.
Read about the Paradox of Tolerance if you don't understand why it IS love and tolerance to be intolerant of bigots are their hateful ideologies. Telling people to fuck off is protecting the diversity of the community they believe makes the world stronger.

I'm not gonna gatekeep anyone out of the community but active bigots. You're free to find your own place and dialogue with the work. I'm mostly dunking on people who deny the blatantly obvious politics of the cast that completely saturate the work and company at every level.
When people repeatedly tell you who they are, though, believe them. How you relate to the work when it clashes with your views is between you and the work. Just be honest about what the work is really saying.
Transphobes have stalked and abused people out of this fandom, though, and they can fuck all the way off. We don't need hateful people actively making vulnerable people unsafe. If you don't behave that way, this isn't about you.
