Following Misha B's recent revelations about her experiences on the show, I would like to present to you...

The murky past of the X Factor: A THREAD 👇
Exhibit A:

Misha B branded as the over-aggressive bully simply for being a confident black woman.

Called out publicly on national television instead of the matter being settled backstage
Exhibit B:

Who remembers during the X Factor 2009 when Danni Minogue straight up mocked contestant Daniel Johnson's reported bi-sexuality?

Shocking to watch

#XFactor
Exhibit C:

Once again on the topic of sexuality, here is Simon Cowell stating that you can't have a normal conversation with a man who chooses to dress like a woman...

#XFactor
Exhibit D:

Here, Louis Walsh straight up describes a black male contestant as a "little Lenny Henry"

#XFactor
Exhibit E:

Can't be assed to know the name of somebody of Asian origin?

Just take the piss out of them then and call them after a number!

Louis finds that hilarious!

#XFactor
Exhibit F:

I for the life of me have no idea how this guy could be seen as bad??

The judges take the piss out of his appearance, and Sharon Osbourne references his durag as looking like something from "the deli counter in Sainsbury's"
Exhibit G:

Publicly fat-shaming a woman on national TV

#XFactor
Exhibit H:

Simon tells a contestant that she looks like "a man dressed like a woman", before later adding that she looks like a man in drag, referencing little Britain character Vicky Pollard

#XFactor
Exhibit I:

Here, just like with Misha B, another black contestant Daniel Johnson is described by the judges as "overconfident" with Louis Walsh randomly launching a tirade of insults at the singer

#XFactor
Exhibit J:

However, after constantly being branded as "overconfident" and "unlikeable" by the judges, Daniel Johnson is then a few weeks later criticised for "holding back" and "losing his mojo"

He honestly couldn't win could he?

#XFactor
Exhibit K:

What is Louis doing here???

Live television!

#XFactor
Exhibit L:

Listen to these two performances at 2010 Judges Houses. The first one is Cher Lloyd, the second is by Gamu Nhengu.

Guess who got through to Live Shows?? That's right, Cher Lloyd, who didn't even finish her performance

Very harsh decision...

#XFactor
Exhibit M:

Now I really don't want to make assumptions or jump to conclusions..

But please have a good look at this and tell me if you think this man was in the right condition to be wheeled out in front of the judges by the producers and plastered on national TV?....

#XFactor
Exhibit N:

Simon Cowell tells a contestant that she's fat, and Sharon Osbourne says that she needs to "go on a diet"

This is real ladies and gentlemen

#XFactor
Exhibit O:

Who remembers how shady this appeared??

Louis says he is going to "save Carolyn" before being pushed to change his mind and call for a 'deadlock' which actually sent Carolyn home!!!

#XFactor
Exhibit P:

Sharon Osbourne gets really personal towards contestant Steve Brookstein, tearing into him and claiming his humble persona is "an act" and "full of bs"

All done on live TV, the contestant has nowhere to hide

#XFactor
Exhibit Q:

Simon Cowell says he wants to hire a contestant with African clothing to be his rug

#XFactor
I think I will end the thread there.

Some may argue I've been a bit harsh, but after seeing Misha B describe her 8 years of therapy to get over the show, and after viewing the many other examples of innocent people getting humiliated in front of millions, I strongly disagree..
Exhibit R:

Former X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke reveals how she has told she couldn't wear any braids or an afro due to "needing to appeal to white people"

She was also told to "bleach her skin" so she could look whiter. Something which she says "breaks her heart"
