My last thread was about one of the key elements of growing on Twitter, Branding.

This one will be about another key element.

Authority.

Why is it important?

Because people will only buy from you and follow you if you have it.

BUILDING AUTHORITY ON TWITTER - THE THREAD. 👮‍♂️
So why is it important to build authority on Twitter?

Because that's how you get people to trust you as an expert in whatever field or niche you're inserted in.

People buy from people that know more than them.

And that's something you should be aiming at when you're growing.
Just ask yourself this question.

Do you want to be just another account or do you want to eventually become a top content creator on the platform?

So here's some ways that you can build authority on Twitter.
1 - Better writing.

Yep, this one is mandatory.

You will never achieve high authority without high-quality writing.

Why?

Because people will think you're uneducated, and if that idea enters someone's mind.

They'll never be take you seriously.
And how do you achieve higher-quality writing? Simple.

I'll list it for you:

- No spelling mistakes.
- Correct use of grammar.
- Correct use of words in context.
- Use of capital letters at the start of your sentences.
- Use of commas and punctuation.
Also, your tweet format matters.

If you write like this, people are going to get bored with what you're saying and they will stop reading what you wrote because long paragraphs are boring and our attention span as humans is very short.
If you write like this, however.

You'll captivate attention.

You will get the eyes of the person following along your thoughts.

As a result they'll actually read what you have to say.

Also, use grammarly if you're not good with english.

And this brings me to my next point.
2 - High-quality content.

If you ever want to reach high authority status, you have to actually put out good content.

A lot of people will not like what I'm about to say next but...

Bro, we get it.

Engage.

Comment on bigger accounts.

Network.

Bla bla f*cking bla.
Again, this is good advice, but if all your tweets are revolving around this, you will stagnate.

Not only will you stagnate, you're just tweeting the same platitude everyone else is tweeting out.

You think this creates authority?

It doesn't.
Because that's all your content is based around.

You need to actually provide some new insights or the same insights from a new angle or perspective.

Something valuable and applicable that people can actually take advantage from in their lives.
If you want to build authority and eventually become a big player on Twitter, you need vision.

You need to think way far ahead.

That's what will build your authority in the long run and have people look up to you for advice and solutions.
3 - Be yourself.

Even though this is your online business and this is supposed to be your brand.

What you put out should resonate with who you are and what you believe in.

That's the only way the journey will be sustainable.

You can't fake it forever.
People will see right through you eventually.

Instead of faking it till you make it.

Actually put in the work in becoming more knowledgeable in whatever your niche is.

And after you do that, formulate your thoughts and provide the valuable content to the audience.
4 - Be polite.

Always.

Remain humble.

Remember, we all started from 0, no matter the level of success you reach, remember where you came from.

When people ask you things or comment under your tweets or reply to you.

If you're going to reply back, always do it politely.
This will show that you're willing to talk to them like an equal.

And that makes people feel nurtured and important.

And when people feel important, they are more willing to listen to what you have to say.
5 - Be serious, but not all the time.

Even though this is your brand and you should treat it with such respect.

There's time for everything.

Today I was feeling pretty goofy and I wrote a couple of tweets mocking my own seriousness.

You should have fun with it.
This also creates a sense of relatability, people will realize that you're actually human.

And you might think that's a bad thing because we're talking about authority, but it's not.

You see, people will feel even more impressed then.
Because even though they perceive you as a "superior" figure, they realize that you're just like them.

And that makes them feel like it's possible for them as well.

And it is.

That creates relatability, and relatability means people will now be even more inclined to listen.
6 - Share your story.

We're all suckers for comeback stories.

We all respect someone who came straight from nothing and made it.

How can you not?

And even if that wasn't your case, we all go through some struggles.

Don't be afraid to share a bit of them.
This shows that you're willing to put yourself in a vulnerable position with your audience.

It creates strongers bonds and deeper connections.

And people will respect you more for sharing and for being brave enough to do so.
7 - Embrace your own uniqueness.

We all have an angle, there's always something unique about you.

Embrace that.

Don't try to copy what everyone else is doing.

Bring your own thing to the table.

You might not get as fast results as you'd like but, this is a long game anyways.
That's the end of the thread.

I hope you enjoyed it and I hope this advice helps you in some shape or form in the future.

This is not only applicable to Twitter but in various other areas of life as well.

To be your own self.
