There sadly is Two Americas.
One where folks live with the everyday struggle of being "othered." For our color, gender identity, orientation. A life constantly having to prove our humanity. /1

The other America is a delusion of grandeur. Built off a lie of supremacy now upheld by peak mediocrity. People who cling to division, because equality is a mirror. /2
That mirror shows them all the times they got ahead undeserved. In school, work, life. It tells them you are better despite all proof to the contrary. Ignoring a generational system of connections meant to keep your America like a country club. /3
My America is one where my education doesnt matter. My income doesnt matter. Where I live doesnt matter. And sadly my life for many doesnt matter. I live in an America that lies to itself about exceptionalism as it watches daily videos of bigotry and brutality. /4
I live in an America where it's more likely I'll need a casket, before a cap and gown for my family. And those of us who are othered live with a government who at will can remind us that our rights to exist are in their hands. /5
All I want is for those of you reading this to understand, that this is not new. This was not started under Trump. The duality of America has been since its forced conception. Covering up its brutality with promises of opportunity. But only for the chosen, not the majority. /6
If this angers you, if it makes you cry. If you are tired as I am, open your eyes to the way things are around you. And change, not others but yourself. Teach yourself to spot how you contribute to the duality and pause, reflect, change. /7
Too many go into this thinking they have to change others around them. Family, friends, ignoring their own contributions to how our society functions. The path to one America starts with one.
