Women concerned about the replacement of sex with gender identity in law and policy have done such "toxic" things as... https://twitter.com/Samsmethers/status/1272112146801983488
Commissioned opinion surveys

@helenstaniland

https://twitter.com/helenstaniland/status/1055128955894808577

And written research papers and articles

@mbmpolicy @Docstockk @cwknews @charlesworth102
Mobilised grassroots campaigns on a shoestring to talk to people about government consultations

@fairplaywomen @ForwomenScot

https://twitter.com/fairplaywomen/status/1272073327386005504
Done audacious, brave, peaceful direct actions to break the silence
Written acres and acres of well informed blog posts in every style personal, funny, moving, angry, analytic, scientific

@janeclarejones @LilyLilyMaynard @FondOfBeetles @PankhurstEM (to name but a few) and not least @jk_rowling
For doing this they have been harassed, threatened, attacked, been doxxed and reported to their employers, deplatformed, lost jobs and faced disciplinary investigations, been called bigots and compared to nazis, including most recently by @stonewalluk https://twitter.com/fairplaywomen/status/1272131917773709312
Women have been made afraid to speak, and excluded from a political debate that affects women and girls.

Women who have stood up to make the debate happen have done it at great personal cost

Imagine how different it would have been if @fawcettsociety had lent its legitimacy?
When you cannot even say JK Rowling's name or why she has been publicly vilified.

When you say "toxic debate on both sides" you continue to give cover for this. https://twitter.com/Samsmethers/status/1271206046829346817
The debate does need to move on.

@fawcettsociety represents "Women" who are male & women who believe males can be women.

This is one legitimate constituency in this debate.

It no longer represents women who believe that sex matters.

We must move on from hoping that it will
But perhaps it could refrain from calling ordinary political public debate "toxic" & making "both sides" equivalency between women taking ordinary democratic action & people threatening and coercing silence?

Then the debate can move on to practical proposals.
