Most energetic cords are hooked into chakra points. For example, root chakra chords are the "i can't live without you" types. Solar plexus cords are the "let me run on your energy rather than operate on my own" or the "i need you to feel good about myself"
A cord in the sacral often leaves you emotionally unbalanced without the person or constantly returning to them for sexual pleasure although you know they arent good for you. These cords are extremely draining to your life force.
If you can pin point where the cord is in your energetic system, the process of cutting it becomes easier because you'll just work with the required centre directly.
heart chakra cords are mostly indicated
by having/holding a deep grudge towards the person, inability to forgive, hate, resentment. these are the cords that keep you emotionally closed and guarded.
third eye cords are those that have you constantly thinking about the person/situation, obsessive thought. just like crown chakra cords, they can lead to requiring dreams of whoever/whatever the cord is formed with.
