When they start naming streets Black Lives Matter or passing laws with extra punishment for cops who kill black ppl & naming those laws after the victims, that really means they're not going to change anything.
When we say, "Defund the police" they'll say, "Oh, that word makes us uncomfortable. Look at this street sign though, look at the name of this crime bill, we're on your side." It's happening now. It's happened before.
In the 60s, City of Knoxville demolished Black urban neighborhoods for roads & a new police dept bldg. A housing project went up on a new street called Better Tomorrow Drive, in what is to this day one of the poorest & most heavily policed areas in town.
Better Tomorrow was a lie. So when they promise us incremental reform, it's a lie. The police don't need federal supplements, militarization, specialized training, "state of the art" technology. Defund them.
