Examples of the development of the Gospels. From Mark to Matthew to John.

(Thread)
Mark 10:18 "Why do you call me Good? None is good but God ALONE"

Matthew was embarrassed by Jesus denying that he is Good and look how he changed it.

Matthew 19:17" why do you ask me about what is good? None is good but one."

So Jesus doesn't deny that he is good in Matthew!
"He COULD NOT do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them." Mark 6:5

He Could not!

Matthew again was embarrassed and changed it

Matthew 13:58 "He DID NOT DO miracles there because of their unbelief"

So he could if he wanted to in Matthew
In Mark 12:29 Jesus says the most important Commandment is the Shema which says there is only one God. But in Matthew 22 in the same incident, it is Just not mentioned, it just mentions about the part of loving your God with all your heart but that's not the first commandment
"He turned around in the crowd and asked, 'Who touched my clothes?'" Mark 5:30.

Displaying a lack of knowledge.

But in Matthew in the same incident

"Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, "Daughter, be encouraged!" Matthew 9:22

So in Matthew he knows!
"he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs." Mark 11:13

So Jesus approaches fig tree looking for figs, and he curses the tree, Mark specifically says it was not the season for figs, displaying lack of knowledge. While in Matthew, he removes the reason..
Matthew removes the mention that it was not the season for figs which allow Christians to make that into a Parable, while in Mark, it doesn't allow you because it displays lack of knowledge.
The disciples woke him and said to him, “TEACHER, don’t you care if we drown?” Mark 4:38

While in Matthew, in the same incident.

The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Matthew 8:25

What did they call him this time? Lord!
There's many examples where Matthew changes 'Rabbi' or 'Teacher' to 'Lord'
Now we go To John, we see it has improved even further. The whole thing is rewritten. We Jesus in John as the word became Flesh, he is pre existent. He comes down from heaven unlike Matthew or Mark or Luke. He says amazing things that are not found in Matthew, Mark or Luke
I'll give you an example, in the first 3 Gospels, Jesus prayed to be saved from the cross. But in John, Jesus says :

"Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour." John 12:27

Very different
So in John, he does not pray like that, and he says he won't pray like that. That's a significant difference. In John, Jesus mostly speaks about how Great he is, but you rarely find him speaking like that in the first 3 gospels
As you see, as time passes by, the image of Jesus is improved more and more. But if we go back to the earliest Tradition, we find the Jesus of Islam!
Just one more example before I finish....
But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “You are the Messiah." Mark 8:27-30

To this, all Muslims would say 'Amen'!

But in Matthew in the same incident.

He answered, "You are the Messiah, the SON OF THE LIVING GOD." Mat 16:16

Wow! Matthew Added!
Read Mark First version of the story first and then read Matthew and see how Matthew Portrays The disciples differently from Mark in the same incident.
Mark portrays Jesus as having limitations in power and Knowledge. That's the Earliest Gospel. He didn't believe Jesue was God
In Matthew and Luke's birth narratives, there's no sense that Jesus incarnated or that he preexisted before his birth
Mark portrays Jesus as having limitations in power and Knowledge. That's the Earliest Gospel. He didn't believe Jesue was God. Jesus even denies he is God in Mk 10:18

As time goes on in Jesus' Tradition, we can see a trend and development away from what Muslims believe about Jesus and toward what Christians believe about Jesus, isn't that something? Shabir ally makes that very point and I Agree.
Mk 3:35 "Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

Mat 12:50 "For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

We See Jesus calling the Almighty as God in Mark but in Matthew in the same incident he calls him Father
Mark 13:35 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know when the owner of the house will come"

Matthew 24:42 "Therefore keep watch because you do not know when your Lord will come"

In Matthew, you have Jesus calling himself Lord in the same saying.
In the episode of the fig tree, in Mark Jesus curses the fig tree and it withers the next day, in Matthew in the same episode, it withers immediately. Showing that he is more powerful now.
While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” Mat 9:18

See the difference between the two? In Mark she is at the point of death, in Matthew She is already dead.
That brings me to this, given this Thread.

John 15:26 GW "The Paraclete will declare the Truth about me"

John 16:14 MSG "He will honor me..."

The Paraclete will Testify and Honor the True Historical Jesus given we have seen the trend
As we saw the trend in the Gospels chronologically, it is not surprising now to see Christians believing in 3 Persons who are God as one God ie the trinity. I mean the Way the trend and development was going led to that Doctrine, the Quran calls them back to the original Truth.
Let's look at the developments that Jesus died and resurrected:
First, the passion predictions that Jesus Predicted his death and resurrection are put on Jesus' lips. Here's why....
Mark 15:44 "Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died."

This verse in Mark leaves readers Questioning if Jesus actually died. Mat and Luke who copied mark removed this verse.
Mark has no resurrection narrative. Matthew 28:17 "When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted"

In Matthew, disciples doubt if Jesus actually was resurrected.

In Luke he shows them his hands and feet, like he ensures that he resurrected bodily.
And then finally John, you have Jesus showing them the wounds, and we have the doubting Thomas incident which ensures to any other doubting person that Jesus definitely died and was resurrected.

See my point?
Compare Mark's version with Matthew and Luke. Mark's narrative brings to Question how did anyone know about this if The women didn't tell anyone about this, but Matthew and Luke fixed the 'Problem'
One more thing about John, John has a soldier piercing Jesus' side with a Spear, and the earlier Gospels don't have it. As if Readers are wondering what Actually Killed Jesus on the cross, This spear Thrust ensures that Jesus died by this Spear. We know Crucifixion kills in days
Like we can see why and how Christians now believe in 3 persons who are God I guess 😅
In the synoptics Judas is necessary for handing Jesus to the Authorities, in John, they do not arrest him, he hands himself over, and just his voice blows them over when he says 'I am he'.

"When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.” Mark 3:21

Matthew who copied Mark Does not mention this. Imagine this, Mary who was told by An Angel that she will bear a son, later thinks her son is crazy
As Gospels are being written, they become more Christian and Less Muslim as we have seen the Comparison between Mark and Matthew to John. The trinity is a Later development. When the Quran says Jesus is not God nor the Son of God, it is calling us to the Original Jesus!
In Page 39 of the book 'Jesus: The Unanswered Questions' by John Bowdin.

He makes a very Good point and I Agree.

This thread explains it Al Hamdulilah.
James Dunn counts the number of times 'Father' and 'The Father' is mentioned in the Gospels and compares them. And he mentions his conclusion about this as well as there was a development and expansion of the tradition
Again, another comparison.
