earlier this year, terry defended AGT after gabrielle union was fired from the show, where she then exposed racists and sexist incidents happening behind the scenes.
when terry was asked about this, he said: “I can’t speak for sexism because I’m not a woman, but I can speak on any racism comments. That was never my experience.”
by not defending gabrielle, he basically invalidated her experience on the show implying she must be wrong since it wasn't his experience.
he tweeted this after the backlash he recieved from his statement, which has been deleted now, not taking responsibility for what he said

not only did he choose not to stand with gabrielle so he could keep his hosting job, these comments hurt many people and while he did apologise for his statements, looking back on other examples makes this apology not so trustworthy.
