This protest has two stops: Chicago Police Academy in the West Loop then the Juvenile Detention Center. I'll be here for part of the march before heading to another assignment.
Here's a panorama of the gathering here at Lincoln Park High School as protesters demand that CPS divests from CPD – bei Lincoln Park High School
And here's a video of the large gathering – bei Lincoln Park High School
The crowd here is massive and peaceful, stretching two entire city blocks and then into Oz Park
Police officers in helmets and face shields walk past the peaceful march, which is slowly headng west on Armitage now.
Here's the route. Southbound on Halsted now, slowly
A van of about a dozen Chicago police officers turns south from Armitage onto Burling at the tail-end of the protest group, one police officer clearly flipping off the protesters from the van. (Last photo taken by @yes_this_is_ben).

Here is @yes_this_is_ben's video of the Chicago Police officer flipping off protesters in Lincoln Park moments ago. @Chicago_Police
Here's a clearer photo of the officer
Context for the photo: people were trying to drive from the Lincoln Park high school parking lot and the police officers were requesting that they were allowed to head west on Armitage before the protesters' cars. Once the police drove past, this was the scene. đź“· by @colinbphoto
I'm still at Lincoln Park High School, I'm biking up along the march route to try and rendezvous for a bit.
I'm still biking to try and rendezvous the march at its front. Please give credit to Ben and myself for the photo and video, if you are to share.
I'm here now at Jackson and Loomis outside of Chicago Police Department training Academy. Protesters are expected to arrive shortly.
Protesters ask one police officer outside the training academy why he is not wearing a badge or body camera, so as a journalist I followed up with the same questions as I saw him put away his badge. This was his response.
Police line the lawn around CPD Education and Training Academy as protesters fill the streets around. Still peaceful, but protesters demand that the officer in my last video shows his badge number and name.
Scenes here at CPD training academy remain peaceful. Protesters are now gathering in a circle at Loomis/Jackson
Protesters are moving onward on the route. I'm staying here for a bit and might head out soon because my phone battery is low. Tbd. Stay safe everyone
