Alright people, I'm tired of this shit. Let me explain how this works.
Local and state elections have consequences. In fact, they're more important than national elections so you best start paying attention. That's pretty blatantly obvious at this point.

City council, sheriffs, DA's, judges, mayor, state legislation and governors. THESE are the people with power over your communities. NOT the President. Not the senators and not your congressmen.
In times of crisis like this a few things need to happen:
-Police need to be authorized to use force (aka to do their damn jobs) to protect people AND their property. Use of water cannons, LRAD, etc.

-People can protest, but at a point (where we are now) that's done. Point made. Chauviz is in custody. You don't get to burn the city and people's livelihoods down cause you're pissed. Sorry not fucking sorry.
-If police and a curfew prove an ineffective deterrent, the GOVERNOR activates the national guard to assist. At this point we're well past kid gloves and quickly approaching Insurrection Act levels.

IF the national guard doesn't work to curtail the violence, the GOVERNOR REQUESTS the assistance of the federal government. Naturally there are restrictions to this - Posse Comitatus. The federal gov can't just do whatever it wants wherever it wants.

-At this point, Posse Comitatus is suspended and the previously mentioned Insurrection Act comes into play. This authorizes the use of the FEDERAL military on US soil. This is where you don't go outside your house unless you wanna get fucked up.
THAT is the level of escalation needed before the federal government gets involved in this. You dont just jump straight to full scale military smackdown because a bunch of mayors won't let their police forces do their jobs. Or governors wont properly utilize their national guard.
Anyone telling you "Trump needs to do something" is either trying to bait him to, or is woefully ignorant of the way our government functions and is probably half the reason this situation is as fucked up as it is. So to those people- educate yourselves.
