god bless the stans AND ALSO everyone who’s surprised is late! there’s been so much coverage of teen boys getting radicalized toward the right through the gamer community and nearly none of the massive number of teen girls getting radicalized toward the left through stan twitter https://twitter.com/thotimus_primee/status/1267245779816787970
the reason the grown-ups of politics twitter find this story so entertaining each time without connecting the dots to the broader trend is that we do not take teen girls and their political ideologies seriously, and we absolutely should
teach your gamer sons to not become nazis, yes, but also foster budding activism in your stan daughters!!! take them to protests, give them money to donate, listen to them, TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY
if they’re to your left, your impulse will be to dismiss their opinions as young girls without experience in the real world; squash your ego and be humble because they can probably teach you something
oops do i sound like i’m speaking from experience now
when this whole mess is done and we made it through it because of the k-pop stans, we all have to stream bts and blackpink

sorry but i don’t make the rules
oh my god

here's a map of over SIX HUNDRED charity projects across the world by bts army over the past few years, they're doing more than the peace corps

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=14gsXdpztf77Uj91DT1UNq33413iNdwtq&ll=48.37023919999999%2C3.388885000000017&z=8
i was wondering what these dots in the middle of the ocean are, and y'all... they have adopted at least five whales and one sea turtle 😭
holy shit, how is it possible that there's been so little coverage of this work? just look at this infographic the one in an army fandom made for the work they did last year https://twitter.com/btbtbtsssssss_/status/1268219550258036736
"parts of yourself" 😭 angels https://twitter.com/OneInAnARMY/status/1251058965364060161
okay i am now starting a bts army army, who will stan the stans with me
i was curious about these guidelines for how the fandom chooses orgs and took a look at the faq and the guidelines are more specific, transparent, and inclusive than that of pretty much any other organization i've ever seen https://twitter.com/OneInAnARMY/status/1267532447379533826
aw, thank you to everyone who corrected me in the nicest way possible—it shouldn't surprise anyone given their message, but of course i should highlight that, teen girls (i love you!) aside, bts army is hugely diverse and composed of people of all genders and ages and races
a lot of academics! a lot of lawyers!!! i just learned about @BTSARMYBarAssoc, which wrote these super useful threads about murder charges and the criminal trial process https://twitter.com/BTSARMYBarAssoc/status/1267286801380708352
here's a video from @harmyling about the demographics across different k-pop fandoms—some, like blackpink (where i spent some time...) and loona, look the way i expected, but bts's largest age bracket is 40 to 49??? i am learning so much
just spreading some more good works by bts army: they BUILT A FOREST??? they saved the amazon rainforest from burning??? they've adopted like ten koalas, some alpacas, and a whole other zoo of animals??? they've helped build PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE like bridges and roads???
