Hey All,

If you want to brush up on your understanding of Indigenous Relationships with Canada (and related histories), may I present to you: "The Report of the Royal Commission On Aboriginal Peoples" (RCAP).

In this thread I offer links to both text and audio.

1/
The RCAP is a 1996 five volume report commissioned by the Canadian Federal Government following the Oka Crisis:

https://www.cbc.ca/archives/topic/the-oka-crisis

Since then the relationship between peoples hasn't especially improved, and other important reports have also been commissioned such as

2/
the "Truth and Reconciliation Commission" (TRC):

http://www.trc.ca/

as well as the "National Inquiry Into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls" (MMIWG):

https://www.mmiwg-ffada.ca/final-report/

which are equally important when learning about justice between our peoples,

3/
but the RCAP is one of the best and most comprehensive places to start. With that said I'd like to acknowledge hard working justice seekers such as @apihtawikosisan for bringing reports such as these to our everyday attention.

As for the RCAP itself, there are text formats

4/
Beyond that if you're interested in an audio format, Aboriginal Voices Radio (back in the day) put in the effort to record the report themselves, for which the 5 volumes of mp3s have been archived in the following links.

Volume 1 (697.8MB):

Given their size, they have been compressed as zip files, so once downloaded you only need decompress them.

If you'd like to navigate these audio files using a table of contents, you can also download an offline version of the historical Aboriginal Voices Radio website,

RCAP Aboriginal Voices Radio (238.1kB):

Here you decompress the zip file and in its folder you will find a "mainPage_English.shtml" file which you can open with your web-browser. To make sure the audio links work correctly you will

9/
have to drag and drop the decompressed folders of mp3s (eg. "Volume 1") into the folder named "audio". Sorry for the trouble there. If you have any issues feel free to @ me.

Finally, I'd like to thank @bunnyladame for hosting the 3.3GB of this content.

Thank you. Enjoy.
