I have started my commission for @godofchicken, a converted chapter master for his homebrew chapter, The Sentinels of Ember. In progress pictures coming soon!
So this is the bit where he's all blutacked and looks awful. I'm working on positions so I can figure out where I need to cut.
His left leg will be forward for ease, so which way should he be holding his polearm?

I feel like Fabius Bile...
These monopose models are such a pain to reposition. The right leg has been pinned, just working on that awkward left leg. I think it'll have a pin all the way through.

So much work for such a small difference in position, but it completely changes the mood of the model.
I've started his arm placement and I think I'm going to have to cut his left arm again above the elbow to make it work.

Okay, but if I do I think it's going to be worth it.
Everyone knows the bigger the Space Marine's shoulders the better. And the fancier the Space Marine, the fancier his armour needs to be. So it's only fitting that a Chapter Master has some big, fancy shoulder pads!
I started work on the chain bardiche but I really wasn't happy with it. The chain was too flat in the middle and the whole thing was wonky. So I started again.
Been quietly working on this for the past couple of days. First I portant thing is my partner @The_Grunkle wanted a go at making a weapon and he MASSIVELY outdid me.
I will be paying him in Gunpla.

I started work on the base today, one of my favourite parts of a project.
I think he makes a suitably imposing Chapter Master up there.
Texture will go on once the milliput is dry.

I just need to add some texture to the pole somehow and then he's done. But for now have a very nearly finished Chapter Master Alexandros of the Sentinels of Ember next to the model I converted him from.
Painting soon!

Opinions on parchment wrapped around the pole?
The two end bits would be metal with parchment in the middle, probably covered in writing.

The observant among you may have noticed I said the painting is done. But not that he is done...
What could I possibly be doing to him next? Here's a hint.

They're not fully dry yet (they will go completely clear) but I'm trying to decide which basic shape I like best to be the base of the fire effect.
Yep. His axe is going to be on fire.

I've applied the first of the coloured water effects over the chosen base, to glue it on and give some texture.
This was done with Vallejo water texture mixed with yellow glaze. Now to wait 24 hours for it to dry so we can see what it looks like...

Did I mention he has a helmeted head too?
And here's how the yellow flame has dried. Very happy so far. Just going to leave it 24 hours more before I add the orange as the clear bit still isn't fully dry and I don't want to risk it staying ehitebif I cover it too quickly.

Orange flame is on!
And I'm trying to rig it up to dry in the correct position. Blutack is my friend.
It's in a good position now but might need more yellow underneath when it's all dry.

We have red flame! The orange was a little to light so I'll try and sort that out once the red is dry and clear.

Oh, and it's holding nice and steady now that the orange has dried, so no need for Mcgyvering it this time.
