The dominant narrative that Corbyn undermined Labour's handling of antisemitism complaints has been torn to pieces by #LeakedLabourReport. Remarkably some, including John Ware, are still trying to stand it up. But there remains one consistent and crucial omission:
A year before the leaked Labour report, and 2 months before the BBC aired John Ware's controversial Panorama programme on the issue, leaked emails were already in the public domain showing the leadership's repeated attempts to speed up investigations and expedite sanctions...
In one email Sam Matthews was directly asked by Corbyn's aide why one member facing a serious allegation of antisemitism had not been suspended. Another email from the leadership's office pleaded the JLM's case not to lift Ken Livingstone's suspension...
The reason these emails are so important is because they surfaced DURING the Panorama investigation and yet directly contradicted its central conclusion: that the leadership had intervened to delay, obstruct or otherwise rig the process IN FAVOUR of those facing investigation...
It is almost inconceivable that John Ware did not know about these emails, given the timing and the fact that they were the substance of a Buzzfeed headline, and that he was engaged in a supposedly in-depth investigation with all the resources of Panorama at his disposal...
If he was aware of the emails and somehow considered them irrelevant, that would suggest an even more staggering degree of journalistic incompetence. Which leaves only one possibility: that the emails were wilfully ignored so as to not disrupt his preferred narrative.
