My absolute least favorite word that I cringe when people use is queer. Even when people are using it in the new way I hate it. As a dude who is primarily in the closet it makes my skin crawl, homophobes use it all the time to describe me even to my face without realizing it.
I’m not strange, weird, or different. I’m me and I hate being called it, even when people are trying to be nice and considerate. I’m happy for those people trying to reclaim the word but in my opinion it should stay dead and buried.
Every time I’m called it it just reminds me of all those times. In the grand scheme of things is it important no, is it anywhere near as important as the other stuff I normally talk about definetly not, but I don’t have anywhere else to say it so I guess it goes on Twitter.
Note to self don’t write things like this it makes you feel wildly vulnerable and you realy don’t like that.
By no means take this as me trying to tell others how to identify. If you feel like it best describes you please by all means keep using it. Lord do I know what it’s like to try to fit into a box, let alone one someone else compels you to be in.
