It was Feb 2012, A film shook all my spirits and injected an emotion which I never knew. I'm still figuring out what it is. To the soul-stirring compositions of AR Rahman, and profound lyrics of Irshad Kamil. Ranbir Kapoor, and Imtiaz Ali, A Thread a.k.a Tribute.

Rockstar.
The story beings somewhere in Europe where Jordan, the protagonist is already a cult-music-icon. People are thronging in lines, buying his shirts, yelling, and shouting his name. There's an enigma around is all we know from these shots. They are shot in 5D, some by RK himself.
In Verona, Italy, Jordon is smashed and chased by the band of guys from the purpose we do not know. It is again, preparing the audience for the ride it would be. And Katana bhai is shown in a small shot, and Look at Ranbir in Pic 4, we knew now it is going to be a revelation.
It is an inexplicable feeling of your emotion being spoilt by your words. Ironically, the words that we hear in this song are profounding. We see Jordan singing in various stages of his life, Somewhere he is happy, enraged at times, he is numb, and sometimes, he is sad as well.
First time Janardhan talks about his desire to become a star. He takes the name Jim Morrison, who was a rebel. Perhaps, JJ wanted wings to fly, he doesn't feel the norms and rules of society important. He wanted that Power to be him, Just him.
This is another interesting scene where JJ is shown failing an audition. JJ is immensely talented, but he wouldn't pass these trivial band auditions. He is a Bada Jaanvar. He has no boundaries, he would drastically fail something where there are limits.
This scene sort of spoilt my entire adolescence. I'm still seeking for that filthy pain, to come and take over the raging talent that's within. I know this sounds sheer romantic. But, kuch toh baat hai isme. Look at the way Jordan gets intrigued by Katana bhai's words!
Jordan, after hearing to the prophecy of Katana bhai, gets into the dilemma of how to achieve the bloody pain. He thinks he hasn't felt it ever in his lifetime. Again, he meets Katana bhai where he says only the broken heart could bring the music from you."Love" could only do it.
Heer Kaul enters into Jordan's life or it is the otherwise, I guess. Anyway, when he knows that she's getting married soon. Jordan wishes to make her the reason for the pain he is thriving for. And there is an untamed dialogue like "Jannat, Kapde ke niche hoti hai" and stuff.
A Jatt from a Hindu College went to propose a Kashmiri Pandit from St Stephens that shows the flair of the class politics in the context of colleges. JJ himself knows that she would ask him to bugger-off, but look at the way he fakes his heartbreak at Pic 4. Genius, I tell you!!
This is an extremely funny scene, where JJ extends and over-dramatizes his heartbreak while eating samosas and fighting that they aren't tasting good. The way Khatana bhai asks to shut his mouth, and this is no heartbreak, you are making it look like one. Tender, yet humorous!
The way he persuades Heer (the way he thinks that he does that) is exceptionally written. They are not outright romantic, these scenes are also philosophical. There is some exploration going on. And the Guitars of Rahman Sir in the scene, Wah. Wah. Khuda hai woh.
JJ sort of escape from scenario wherever he is confronted by Heer. He doesn't know how to explain this but eventually does though it looks like much of fumbling. In the mean times, he learns who actually Heer is.
How? Yes. Good question.
These are the scenes were Heer and JJ get to know each other. Even though she gets pissed off in the beginning as JJ thought she was too neat and clean, then she opens herself to him. They go insane & talk about the mischief they would do in the future. Very well performed scene.
There's a loveless relationship between Heer Kaul and JJ in this episode. The way he looks at her body and feels something, but not anything sexual makes a point (Pic 4). They are friends, Perhaps. They are naive about an emotion called Love, maybe.
Heer's marriage time, and the way both of them enjoy touring the serene spots of Kashmir Valley. Heer, surprisingly, names him Jordon and calls it short and cool. He feels it immediately and introduces himself as Jordan, the name he wasn't aware in the past minute. Subtle it was!
She says Yes. Yeah, JJ perhaps understood, or perhaps he didn't. Maybe now he chose the heartbreak wali option. Or He went with the flow. It is a typical scene, but also very layered. You don't know what exactly is happening. It is again great writing, very thoughtful.
RK - Did Jordan attend Heer's wedding or he just flew away?
Imtiaz - He did attend the wedding, but his mind is not there anymore. He is flying.

"Kisi Manzar Par Main Ruka Nahin
Kabhi Khud Se Bhi Mein Mila Nahin
Yeh Gila Toh Hai Main Khafa Nahin."

Phir se Ud Chalaa.
The Song made the movie into something else, until this point, we were involved with the story, it brings back the mystic intrigue element that occurs in the very first portion of the film. Jordan's life speeds up, and he is emotionally connected to the memories, & living them.
Imtiaz Ali said that somebody called Rockstar, A inception of love stories. This sequence which is already in the flashback drifts back and forth and forth and back. And I came to know that the Bhabhi episode was inspired by the tale of Heer-Ranjha. Heer-Jordan, Yeah, btw. :)
Kun Faya Kun basically takes the reference of Vedas, and Sufism blending them and make a spiritual fusion. This song is a life-changing event for me. I'm not a spiritual person but it steals moved me. Jordan becomes a Sufi, he is detached with god, and also want to seek life.
The purity of bada Jaanvar - If you give something mediocre, regular, Perhaps, he/she would fumble. As I said tried to say earlier, It is a virtue of Genius to make their boundaries and fly. They cannot just surrender to some qualms of mediocrity.
"He won't fit into your small cage." Ah. What an expression it is. And Shammi Kapoor Sahab's presence has brought the divinity to the movie. And look at Jordan, he seems casually talking to a legend, it is not that he doesn't know him, it is just he cannot be a regular aadmi.
The Dhingra-Jordan spat is an extremely corporate vogue. Perhaps, this is the only scene in the entire film where we would burst out laughing. Kudos to Piyush Mishra Saab.
Heer is going through some kind of illness, both physical and mental. When Jordan comes to meet her in Prague, she says I have an appointment with the psychiatrist, Look at the Pic-3, he just doesn't listen to what's she saying. The obvious nature matters to him.

Sheer-Romance.
Hawa Hawa - The song metaphorically mirrors the state of Heer and also depicts how she has overcome depression. And Perhaps, she realizes she's comfortable only while being with Jordan. Of course, she has already declared her state-of-mind, with an abrupt YES earlier.
This conflict of heart and mind makes a beautiful cinematic sequence. The way Heer restrains to what her heart and Jordan just started feeling the need for Heer in his life. It was a priceless Interval point. I hope everybody would agree with me.
Aur Ho is also an important song in the album, there are various emotions depicted in it i.e. helplessness, jealousy, dishonesty, etc. After the song when Heer asks Jordon to leave, & falls off, Imtiaz doesn't show the rest. Both Jordan and the audience are forced to spectate.
The sheer mania of the artist Ranbir. Sadda Haq is a bundle of questions to the people who preach values but doesn't give any thought to follow them. It speaks about imperfections, which are also perfections. And also about Humanity. Imtiaz, Rahman, Mohit, Irshad were Raging.
The most vulnerable moment in Jordan's journey. He is succumbing to the pain which he always dreamt about. It has started eating him. Khatana Bhai is there to help him, but Jordan's a bada jaanvar. His cries are mostly gibberish, or the language Khantana can't understand.
This moment is pure bliss. Looking at Shammi Sahab playing Shehnai, Ranbir on the guitar. And, Just look at the images 3 and 4, Jordan, who has become bitter, and angry smiles after a long time looking at his college friends, but all they do is treat him like a Glam Billboard.
The Hysteric Jordan, now he has become totally eccentric. And never disloyal to his Love. The way Sheena offers herself to him, and the way his conscience refuses it. There is so much honesty in Jordan, it's the language of his, that's incomprehensible at times.
This is where the theme of Tum Ho plays, and the scenarios cut back to Heer, and what has happened to her. She gets diagnosed with Aplastic anemia, and Jordan is rotting internally with love and helplessness.
The first shot shows the Heer becomes indifferent towards pain in her treatment. Jordan is lost while performing, meets Heer's sister Mandy, who is dressed in Jordan's costume (suggesting that she's his fan) and asks him to meet her sister. And Terrific score by Rahman Sir. 🙏
Sometimes, ideals and morals fumble before human emotions. It is difficult to explain things or people might think it is extremely odd. Jordan tries to kiss Heer while defending her she gets the power to stand up on her own.
This is inexplicable, Yeah.
The scene where Jordan persuades Heer, ironically, it starts from the dialogue "Hey, When you are dying?", and it becomes a scene of the third act. Nargis had performed well. Ranbir just rocked it. Imtiaz calls it "FALL THAT WOULD COST HER LIFE." You know what that means, right?
Imtiaz Ali often declares his stand over the obsession of media people. As a sub-text, it arrives multiple times in the film. And Heer goes away because of Media's attention from Kangra. And the scene where Jordon is on bed thinking gets cut mid-way for the reason we know.
Jordan maintains a bad emotion when Heer bids a Bye to him. Incidentally, that's the last time he ever watches her with life. And Heer also meets the reality again, where she knows that's she's going leaving Jordan. The scarf bit was emotional. Katiya Karoon plays in the BG.
The pain he sought through a heartbreak eventually arrives as the guilt of killing his own love. The purpose of love was to save her, but ultimately it has taken her. The aggression of Jordan is actually is deep guilt of losing her again, because of his own acts.
Jordan believes Heer would stand up and move whenever he sees him. It doesn't happen now. He becomes agitated. It becomes where whatever he believed was right, actually proved totally wrong. Imtiaz Ali says he's never gonna come back.
Jordan has gone wild, or he doesn't know what's happening in him or what's his objective. He is indifferent towards emotions. He burns his guitar, watches it, and shows the Jim Morrison iconic middle-finger. He becomes everything, but nothing also.
Naadan Parindey is Ranbir Kapoor and Mohit Chauhan raging like bulls. There is nothing such before, perhaps will never happen again. It just happened. A Sheer cinematic experience it is!!
Heer is gone too far, says I finally got you, and in response, Jordan says "You are there, And I have won you losing myself." It is happening in the mind of Jordan, he is hallucinating, he is repenting in reality, and cherishing the love in the distant ground away from society.
An appreciation Tweet for Anil Mehta Saab for such pleasing and enriching visuals. Btw, the picture was shot on film.
How should I explain this feeling? It is truly a tonne of weight above my arms, psychologically so many enigmas heaping up. I'm glad that I got to make this thread. I think Rockstar and craving for pain will move away from me now.

Thank you, Imtiaz Ali and Ranbir.

END.
