C'mon guys, increase the # of papers published in AEJ Applied. Below is a quick graph using #'s from Table 1 of 2020 reports (ex: https://pubs.aeaweb.org/doi/pdfplus/10.1257/pandp.110.689and)
How the heck do you justify that AEJ Applied consistently has 1/2 the acceptance rate of AEJ Micro and *LOWER THAN AER*??

Alternatively, give a lot more credit to folks who have published in AEJ Applied in the last 7 years. They faced lower acceptance rates than AER (although to be fair, it's likely that AEJ Applied type papers have much lower acceptance rates within AER than AER overall).
Also, if you are a labor economist and want to feel worse, JHR accept rate is 5-8% ( https://uwpress.wisc.edu/journals/journals/jhr.html). Can't find JOLE, but I would imagine it's even lower.
