Taemin being incredibly smart; a very important thread (part two)
Lets start with an episode of 'Problematic Men'. In this one, the guests had to guess some words or expressions for a given image.
For example in this one, the image (shown at the beginning of the clip) was 'STAND I', and Taemin was the first one to guess it, which is quite impressive not only because of how hard the riddle itself is, but because English is not even his first language!!
In here, the image is 'COPI..COPPY..COPY' and Taemin was also the first one to guess it correctly, which again, is quite impressive knowing that English is not even his first language!
This is other episode in which the guests had to rearrange the pieces to form the original card but with a hole in the middle of it. And Taemin, given his amazing pictorial intelligence, was the first one to solve it right:
Moving on, here are some clips of Taemin in 'King of food'. In here, the guests had to guess some cuisine related questions. As the correct answers were decided by a professional chef, we can assume that the questions + (tw: pictures and mentions of food in the following clips)
were stuff mostly known by cuisine professionals, which none of the guests are, so they had to use their common sense and logic to guess the answers. Taemin shows in these clips and excepcional usage of his common sense in order to answer them all (correctly btw)

Here is his insight about choosing Pinocchio at the call (shout out to @imissyang for the pics)
Next: his audition. Did you know he had no professional dancing training when he auditioned? In interviews, Taemin has said that he started dancing when he was around 10 years old after seeing Michael Jackson’s 'lean forward' move in “Smooth Criminal”. So, all the practise +
he had for his audition was what he could learn from watching. Here's a clip of his audition. You can clearly see how good and natural he was at dancing, despite not having any prior professional training in it.
Now, next. He is extremely involved with everything that goes on in his concerts. He knows what he needs to make them extraordinary, and he asks for in in a polite, mature and kind manner. There are a thousand of clips like this, and I couldn't possibly put them all on this +
thread, but I thought that at least one was important to show how critical and detailed he is. He likes things to be perfect, and he expects all of his performances to not be less than that. And, while he know what his strong sides are, and knows how to enhance them to +
perfection, he also acknowledges his weaknesses, which is a pretty remarkable thing to do. And he not only acknowledges, but he also improves on every single one of them.
Like this one: when he debuted he was actually called 'tone deaf' because of his singing skills, but he worked and practiced, and the outcome was astounding. Not only he managed a remarkable solo career , but he is now the lead vocalist for SHINee and SuperM. And he managed +
that because of his amazing work ethic. He believes in constant improvement, acknowledging your weaknesses yet never feel defeated by them, he always has a ‘I can overcome this’ philosophy.
Well, moving on, Taemin is an exceptionally talented person in a lot of things, for example ( this is the link to the video, is 10+ min long and SO worth it)
Basketball
Playing piano
Amazing flexibility
Remember also that Taemin is interested in quantum mechanics and relativity, and he has been watching a lot of videos about it because he genuinely likes it. Remember that he is currently majoring in Musical and Film at university.
Remember that he won a medal for his maths skills. Remember that he learnt how to play piano at a really young age. Remember that he can also speak perfect Japanese, and is currently learning English as well. Remember that he has such good memory he can learn choreos in a day.
Remember that having an androgynous concept for 'MOVE' was his own idea because he wanted to enhance his feminine side, after realising he doesn't have to keep looking for a more 'masculine' image (as society says) if he doesn't feel comfortable with it.
Remember what a sweet, kind and supportive hyung he is. He is indeed an exceptional performer but he is also much more than that. He is naturally a funny guy, but that doesn't mean he's not smart. I hope you guys enjoyed this 💜
