The level of work being sent, the zoom/live classes, the #distancelearning modeled after physical school setting...are these evidence that we care as teachers and as a system, or is it a way for schools and the education officials to inflate their ego that they are ‘working’?
How can we be ok with even one student not being able to connect in the same way as everyone else? This #COVIDー19 lockdown is not normal, so why are we trying to normalize schooling at this time? I guess paying teachers during a lockdown needs to be justified
This is the result of the years of studies pushing that formal education/schooling is some sort of basic need like food, shelter, safety and health. While it is important over time and actually more so for certification and passing exams, when will we see that life is education?
If we accept that there are lessons all around us, then we would not be so hyped to get devices to every child at this time and to get teachers to become immediate online wizards. No matter what successes are achieved now there will so much damage to undo later.
