Plenty about being a mom took me by surprise, not least of all having 2 girls. I’ve been a lot of different moms in 6 yrs— married mom, widowed mom, single mom, despairing mom, joyful mom, tired mom,… https://www.instagram.com/p/CABoxFuH-7L/?igshid=1nh7yfo0gtl6j
too-much-screen-time-and-wine-mom, ornery mom, mom who cusses too much, mom who brings home work, flexible mom, homeschool mom, outlandish-Halloween-costume mom, please-stop-touching-me mom, everyone-cry-it-out mom. But through all of it, these gals are the reason I’m a mom
who laughs a lot, can’t be Mommy-shamed, makes good bacon, and is endlessly delighted and proud of all that they can be and we can be together. Thanks, ladies.

I also do pretty bitchin’ braids now.

To all those who are parenting in this weird time and, in particular, parenting through grief, hang in there. Get through a couple hours at a time. They’ll probably tell their therapists one day about how horrible it was they were only allowed regular Cheerios, not Honey Nut,
Or some such nonsense.
But I pray mostly someday they’ll remember we made it through together.
