UK policy of putting covid infected into care homes:
Italy policy of putting covid infected patients into care homes:
US policy of putting covid infected patients into nursing homes:
Also in Sweden, evidence that no one ‘thought’ about the dangers of sending people from hospital where they could contract covid back into care homes. https://www.france24.com/en/20200510-sweden-admits-failure-to-protect-elderly-in-care-homes
France’s policy required care workers to still go to work in the homes even if they had been diagnosed with covid.
Spain again (also residents in some care homes died via abandonment. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52188820
Ottawa, Canada: Covid sufferers kept in care homes, not sent to hospital. Whilst I agree it would be very difficult to treat a dementia patient with oxygen, were they being isolated from others in the home? https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/no-transfer-policy-at-some-long-term-care-homes-denies-residents-rights-during-pandemic-say-advocates/
And an update for Ireland, care homes were abandoned by the State, not provided with PPE, not given resources like oxygen to treat, not tested & again untested people were removed from hospital to care homes:
More detail regarding the carnage in the UK from @ukcolumn
This document suggests the strategy of putting covid patients into care homes remains in place in case of future outbreaks. This isn’t negligence, it’s intentional: https://twitter.com/d_mos77/status/1269264319465902080?s=21 https://twitter.com/d_mos77/status/1269264319465902080
I don't know how many times I have to say this, but this is not an anomaly nor a small mistake: https://twitter.com/RTUKnews/status/1271127555341537283?s=20
A new very concerning detail for Spanish care homes: https://alchemicalquality.wordpress.com/
Report on what’s been happening in Ontario, Canada from @RosemaryFreiTO & the wider implications of such policies:
Would be interested to see an update of this summary almost a month later: https://ltccovid.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Mortality-associated-with-COVID-21-May.pdf
And a shocking update for Spain: https://twitter.com/libertadvale11/status/1273205017621803009?s=21 https://twitter.com/libertadvale11/status/1273205017621803009
I would posit this practice was adhered to in the States where the deaths were unusually high. Confirmed to date in NY, NJ, Pennsylvania, & California did it too but covid deaths not massive there but excess deaths appear to be quite high. https://www.pennlive.com/news/2020/05/nearly-50-nursing-homes-in-pa-have-20-or-more-deaths-tied-to-coronavirus.html
Where once DNRs were reserved for terminally ill patients now in the UK’s NHS (& quite likely in other nation’s health services too) it is enough if you are classified as frail or needing some assistance to sentence you to death & refuse care:

Canada: this article discusses how discharges from hospitals were also sent to care homes in that country as well:
