There are developments in the Nygard story today.

Beyond Borders, an organization dedicated to protecting children from sex abuse, is calling for Canadian authorities to investigate whether Nygard should be criminally prosecuted in Canada.

Forty-six women have accused the Winnipeg fashion mogul of rape or sexual misconduct.

Nygard, 78, has repeatedly maintained his innocence. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Beyond Borders says there's a provision in the criminal code that allows for prosecution of Canadian citizens if they commit sexual offences against children outside the country.

“This is not a matter which should be left only to foreign jurisdictions to consider," the organization says in a press release.

Beyond Borders sent a letter requesting the investigation to Canadian Attorney General David Lametti and Manitoba Attorney General Cliff Cullen.

Up until this point, I haven’t reported this anywhere, but the irony has become too obvious to ignore:

The co-founder and former president of Beyond Borders is Rosalind Prober. She dedicated much of her life to protecting children from sex exploitation. She retired in 2015.

Rosalind Prober’s husband is Jay Prober, one of Nygard’s lawyers, who has been very vocal in alleging the women accusing his client of rape are lying for money.

Multiple accusers say they were children at the time of the alleged offences.

Meanwhile, Nygard has announced he’s filed a motion to amend his RICO lawsuit in New York court against Louis Bacon, his billionaire neighbour in the Bahamas.

The two men have a vitriolic feud, and Nygard claims Bacon is paying women to falsely accuse him of sex crimes.

Nygard is seeking an injunction against Bacon and hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.

He says Bacon has orchestrated a decade-long smear campaign to ruin his reputation and livelihood.
