WATFORD AWAY 2011 *THREAD*
On this day in 2011, Watford vs QPR, myself and a few mates didn’t manage to get hold of tickets, we woke up that morning and all decided we would go to Watford anyway and soak in the atmosphere and have some drinks with all the fellow R’s..

After a few hours and more than a few lagers we found out that Watford were still selling tickets to home fans in the Harlequin shopping centre, immediately we downed our drinks and ran to the shopping centre, about a mile down the road..
We arrived at the stall that was selling the home tickets, I wasn’t sure, I had a bad experience of being behind enemy lines but my pals convinced me, it would be worth it, the lady selling the tickets asked us 3 times, “Your Watford fans aren’t you? “Yeah, of course” we said...
So off we went, to the ground, through the home turnstiles and into the corner of the ground, we saw the Rangers fans behind the goal, flags, inflatables, thousands of fans in great voice, Wow! We wished we were in there with them but we would still witness it all..
So anyway, Tommy Smith received the ball in front of us, he slings in a cross in and it finds Taarabt, he taps it in, I’m thinking right you have to celebrate this but don’t take the piss, well.. every person around me went ballistic, we surrounded by QPR!..
The few Watford fans around us looked confused and angry, we were going MENTAL! Taraabt runs over to the corner to celebrate and he looks baffled, I will never forget his and the other players faces. The police and stewards shit themselves, what are they supposed to do here?...
I grabbed my phone to record the moment, as you can see it was difficult to film anything, it was carnage...
After a few mins of celebration we all calmed down a bit, the Police and stewards are gathered in front of us, they deciding what to do, then more police turn up, we all thought we were getting ejected, the stewards then remove the home fans and relocate them, Were staying put!..
“Were Queens Park Rangers, we sit where we want!”, applause from the Rangers fans behind the goal, rude gestures from the home fans next to us, this is fucking brilliant, shortly after Smith scores and it’s all over, a few us run onto the pitch, we’re hugging the players..
After the game, thousands of R’s descend onto the streets of Watford, the pubs fill up and we end up in the Wetherspoons, I’ve never experienced an atmosphere like it, hours of singing, hugging strangers, ex players like Impey and Gallen boozing with us..
A crazy day, that almost never happened for me, I didn’t fancy it, I’m so glad my mates talked me round, I will never forget that mental day in Watford and that night in the pubs with thousand of fellow R’s.
