Guys why did I ask this question?
Many would say "गाय तो गाय होती है, क्या अंतर?"
अंतर है, The cow on left which looks somewhat like a horse is a EXOTIC breed cow (Bos taurus taurus), While on right side is Indigenous breed cow (Bos taurus indicus)
But Does it Matter? Contd.. https://twitter.com/RajSharma1857/status/1255500372111736835

Why do we Indians lack Indian breed cows?
The root of this problem lies in 1970s (Operatio Flood) when Govt introduced cross breeding of cows
All the Indigenous cows in big dairy farms were impregnated with foreign bull semen & cross breeding was performed

Why was need felt for cross breeding?
Most of the cattle owners of India were poor farmers who had not maintained the pedigree of their cows & thus ruined their milch potential
Low output of the milk was the reason they were cross bred

But what was result?
Farmers observed that the results of cross breeding were good in 1st generation. They got more amount of poor quality milk
But in sucessive generations, the cattle reached to their original yeild
So Cross breeding was a failure

In the meantime, some Gaushalas performed 'natural selection' of Indian cows (Even Pakistan did that)
And that led to same Indian cows giving high yeild of milk with very good quality

Just like various cultures, languages, scripts; India also had diversity in terms of Native cows
There were some 360 breeds before Independence
But now many of them extinct & many more on verge of extinction; So we have only 40 registered breeds left
