I hear what ur saying & I used to believe that. Unfortunately I have to disagree. It's more of a mindset. I see Beginners charge all the time, charging really low rates, increasing price when skill & demand increase. You have to START charging when you START creating.

And the PERFECT statement only SOLIDIFIES my point and is the EXACT reason, I stated it in the first place.

Doesn't matter WHERE you are at talent-wise, if someone WANTS your work for free, THEN it is THEREFORE good enough to put a PRICE on it. When you are DELIBERATELY doing work for free, out of FEAR of losing a client is what I'm talkin about. And you are teaching people that they can infact USE YOU to get FREE work, and ingraining in your mind that your time NOR work is valuable.

It's a MINDSET

I'm not talking about art that is created as a gift, contribute, etc! ALSO my statement IS NOT INCLUDING pro bono work.

I'm speaking SPECIFICALLY to artists who are doing work for FREE because they are AFRAID to charge. It gets deeper than that BUT i'm not gonna go there lmao

Because with pro bono work -- the person who's doing THE WORK is getting paid.

BECAUSE they are charging ENOUGH for their CURRENT services to where that they're able to do something for FREE or "pro bono." So they're getting paid, just not by the immediate client.

OBVIOUSLY not every statement works as an ABSOLUTE solution to EVERY problem. But my statement definitely applies to this scenario 100%

ASWELL as the SCENARIOS I aimed it for.

And if it doesn't apply for you just keep scrolling. Because it applies to a lot of Creatives

A lot of creatives aren't at this level of awareness. Which is okay we are all at different points in our journeys.

And MANY creatives will get offended, with what I am saying. Which only SHOWS that there is a lot of education that is needed to be done on BOTH sides of the issue
