I really don't think the message is getting out there enough that Trump's reopening schemes are reckless because he wasted April almost as much as he wasted January, February and March. There was a plan to open responsibly, but his administration couldn't or wouldn't do it.

Republicans will be very good at casting this as Democrats trying to hurt the economy. Democrats need to be better at explaining the reason we had to do all of this is because the president thought he could bullshit his way out of a pandemic.

"It didn't have to get this bad," should be the message of the day. Not to mention the trade off Trump's proposing to make up for his incompetence is more people dying.

When you think of the message discipline and mileage the GOP got out of their dumb "death panels" hype against Obamacare, you'd think that when they themselves become the death panels, Democrats could make a bigger deal out of that.
