I see the dynamic between Kunimi and Kageyama as a back-and-forth of parting & reuniting. their relation to each other shifts throughout the years, from middle school teammates, to high school rivals, to friends post-timeskip. (2/7)
this parting & reuniting comes with a very bittersweet cycle of: 1) learning each other 2) unlearning each other 3) relearning each other again. the relearning part is what really draws me to them. (3/7)
when you relearn someone, you're already holding pieces of them. you’ve been quietly carrying them with you all this time. but you realize half of the parts don’t fit anymore, and there are so many new parts to find, spaces to fill. (4/7)
this process comes with lots of maybe’s and what-if's.
what if I was kinder to you in middle school? what if I approached you after our matches in high school? paid more attention? apologized sooner? how many more of your parts would I be holding in my hands? (5/7)

it’s unlikely you’ll ever complete the whole puzzle or even know them permanently. but at least you have the tenderness of relearning; of slowly fitting the pieces together again. (6/7)
