1. #Oldboy
The bloody and beastly effort from Park Chan-Wook which made the whole world turn around and look at the industry. The splendid action stretches and the shocking twist are unforgettable. A true classic.

2. #MemoriesOfMurder
A genuine detective drama that exposes the struggles that people in the occupation face. Based on a true story, it is narrated with such care and heart. Some truly thrilling moments in here as well.

3. #TrainToBusan
Trust the Koreans to reinvent the zombie genre and put it in a setting that has so much room for tension, thrill and a rollercoaster of emotions. The little girl in this film is so good!

4. #AHardDay
If you'd ask me the best Korean film I've seen in my life, this would be it. Unrelenting tension amidst chaotic conditions and tricky situations. A full-on feast for thriller fans.

5. #ExtremeJob
A massively entertaining action comedy that brings in a whacky plot with some downright hilarious sequences - the third act is bonkers. Would love an Indian remake, this is one of the best films I've seen during the lockdown.

6. #TheChaser
A straightforward action thriller that puts an ex-cop and a psycho killer at loggerheads. Definitely has aged a bit but there's lot to like in how the story moves forward.

7. #Montage
A terrific story of an unsolved kidnapping case and how three individuals get emotionally involved in it. The second half is meticulously put together and the finale will surely jolt you. A proper example of a crime thriller.

8. #TheManFromNowhere
A gorgeous thriller that makes the most out of the simple plot that it has in hand. The stunt choreography is solid and the ending will surely leave you teary-eyed. No wonder, many Indian films in the last decade took a leaf out of this!

9. #ConfessionOfMurder
A rapidly narrated crime thriller with a generous dose of action. The erratic pacing of the film sets it apart from the other films in the genre, and there's a solid reveal at the end as well. If you don't mind the OTT car chases, this is top stuff.

10. #TheYellowSea
An episodic emotional ride that has some riveting action stretches and a poignant climax. It is a bit lengthy, but there's a great character study in here to go wow at!

11. #Assassination
Fun, friendship and loads of gunshots come together in this entertaining period romp that has been made with a crowd-pleasing motive. The cast is extremely likable, and I really enjoyed the final hour that's flushed with adrenaline-pumping moments.

12. #3Iron
An incredible experiment in the history of cinema. Almost devoid of dialogues, but there's enough and more to keep you glued to the proceedings. This is one movie you shouldn't miss, just to witness how it puts across its message. Truly, a masterpiece.

13. #TheHandmaiden
A highly intricate drama that gives you more goods, the more you pay attention to it. It's artistic, erotic and surprising at the same time, and there's added value thanks to the cinematography, the performances and the mood. A special film for sure.

14. #Parasite
The Oscar winner might feel a bit overrated in hindsight, but there's so much to like in how the plot is set in motion. I am a big fan of the first half and the whole idealogy put across by the film.

15. #TheWailing
A dark, unsettling and creepy experience that will stay on your mind even after the credits roll. Loved the fresh perspective on organic & artistic horror. Bloody, brilliant and twisted.
PS: Not for the faint-hearted as it has some shocking, gruesome visuals!

16. #Forgotten
A deceptive thriller that manages to thrill and confuse you in the right ways from the very beginning. The finale may not go down too well with everybody, but this one's a fair watch if you're looking for two hours of popcorn fun!

17. #Veteran
A pretty good action comedy that hits the right notes thanks to the two leads. Yes it does have some rough patches in the middle, but the rollicking climax ensures that all's well that ends well. The kind of commercial film that falls in line with some of our own!

18. #AlongWithTheGods - The Two Worlds
A very inventive fantasy adventure that's made on a grand scale, in entertaining fashion. Touches upon various themes such as Buddhism, karma, reincarnation, afterlife and more. The smashing cast is the cherry on the cake!

19. #AlongWithTheGods - The Last 49 Days
The sequel may not be as emotionally strong as the first part, but there's enough room for entertainment as we dig deeper into the lead characters. Spun around well, with the period segments ruling the roost. Good duology this!

20. #ISawTheDevil
Terrifying and exciting are words you can use to describe this peach of a thriller. Tense to the core, it is set at just the right pace and keeps you pinned until the very end. A fantastic frontrunner in the cat-and-mouse space!

21. #Pieta
A distressing yet touching film about a mother's love for her son. The brutal visuals and the on-your-face narrative are tough pills to swallow, but there's lot of emotional depth that it offers with a great ending. Don't watch if you don't think you can handle it.

22. #TheAdmiral - Roaring Currents
An account of history's most memorable battles, where just 12 ships fought a naval war with Japan's huge fleet. The final hour is filled to the brim with rousing action, making it a good watch!

New-age Korean filmmaking comes alive in great fashion with this interesting character study that is very thought-provoking on the whole. The ending was superb, especially. Be prepared to withstand the leisurely pace, and you might end up liking this.

24. #TimeToHunt
A straightforward action flick that delivers the goods with some astounding cinematography and top-notch use of sound. It is a little stretched, but there's a fair amount of thrill in there to keep you invested until the end.

Interestingly laid out 'meta' gangster drama that showcases the emotional side of the mob and the real mess that they invariably find themselves in. Apart from the action, there are some nice surprises all the way, leading to a punchy finale!
