Rickshaw, Vancouver. When photographing that city I was drawn to the less affluent areas just like Depardon was when he photographed Glasgow. The glass towers, yachts and chocolate box landscapes that define modern Vancouver were pretty but boring.
When a hotel feels the need to advertise itself as clean, quiet and secure you can be pretty certain it is none of those things.
The Country Music Pub on West Hastings, described to me as an epic dive bar and they weren’t wrong.
One thing you can’t beat about this part of Vancouver is the back alleys which all look like film sets from a 1970s crime drama.
