further idea: it's a mockumentary that takes place in the 80s about 3 magicians trying to land a TV special
John Mulaney plays the TV executive in charge of choosing who gets the special
John Mulaney is eccentric weirdo and inherited the station from his father and thinks magicians are the ticket to getting viewership numbers higher.

Tim Meadows and Kenan Thompson are members of the board trying to come up with more reasonable ideas
