Imma start a thread about gender non-conforming/non-binary lesbians. PLEASE HEAR ME OUT...
Let’s start saying that gender is “socially constructed” in the sense that, unlike biological sex, gender is a product of society. If society determines what is masculine or feminine, then society can change what is considered masculine, feminine, or anything in between.
No one needs to be locked into fixed gender categories. Any individual is free to identify their gender as they see fit.
Lesbians have a history of having complex relationships to gender. Also, do people not realize that being non-binary isn't just one specific thing? being non-binary is a blanket term for any gender that doesn't explicitly fall under male and female.
There are many feminine identifying non-binary people and others that somehow are still connected to their womanhood and if those people are exclusively attracted to women and enbys they're lesbians.
There are going to be gender non-conforming and non-binary lesbians who will use various pronouns to match their gender expression/identity. That doesn’t mean pronouns no longer have any meaning.
It means you should pay attention to the people you meet and respect their pronouns/self-expression.
This community has a long history of complicated gender identity and refusing to do research on that and swallowing what cishet people have taught us about what makes a “man” and a “woman” is not going to help our community.
Transphobes and lesbophobes need to get over their shallow ideas of gender identity and stop assuming the way a person identifies is a personal attack on them.
