We didn’t have Twitter.
In fact, we didn’t have an social media, so that we could tell everyone, how great we are.

Occasionally, we got “letters of appreciation” from the public.
There are an increasing number of Police accounts on here, who insist on telling us how they “run towards danger, when others run away”, or, that actually, they are “heroic” for doing the Job.

And then post pictures and stories, just to prove it.
The Job is dangerous, those who do it, know this, their loved ones know this.
They might not know if they’ll come home, on any given day - we never did.

Police because you believe in right and wrong, fighting injustice, and protecting the vulnerable - whoever they are.
But, if you base your worth, and whether you’re doing a good job, as a Police Officer on Twitter “likes”, you need to rethink your career choice.
