Let's talk about Matteo Guendouzi

He's a lot better than what people generally think of him.
Passing;
He's had an 88% pass success rate, with only 14% of his passes going backwards and 29% going forwards. He also favours passing to the right hand side.

He's been able to act as Arsenal's midfield ball progressor when needed, and be the main passing outlet
He's also been Arsenal's most progressive midfielder, especially when it comes to passing.When comparing his(blue) passing % to Dani Ceballos(green) you see a player that Arsenal can depend on when it comes to starting attacks in vital moments, instead of one that slows them down
Long Passes:

Guendouzi has been able to complete a variety of long passes.

94% success rate on horizontal passes
81% success rate on simple vertical passes
100% success rate on vertical through balls
95.5% success rate on opposite half long balls
What does this mean?

Matteo Guendouzi, is able to be a top level progressive midfielder because of his ability to launch long balls to either switch up the direction of the play, kickstart attacks, and help the team break deep blocks when necessary.
Aerial dominance(or lack of):

He's won 45% of his Aerial duels this season. Better than Ceballos(20%), Xhaka(43%), and Torreira(34%.)

This is a general problem in the Arsenal side, yet Guendouzi is Arsenal's best midfielder when in the air.
Dribbling:

72.6% Dribble success rate overall
76.5% Dribble success rate against Central Midfielders
69.2% Dribble success rate against Centre Backs
75% Dribble Success rates against Wingers
What does this mean?

Guendouzi is able to get himself out of tight situations in the middle of the park relatively well, and he's able to keep the ball when under pressure from opposing attacking wingers.

This helps support the idea that he is fairly press resistant
Acceleration & Ball Progression:

83.9% acceleration completion rate from passes alone

This also helps provide evidence of Matteo Guendouzi being press resistant as he shows how he's able to get out of tight situations with quick strides. A key feature of his overall game
What role suits Matteo Guendouzi?

When played as a left sided DM/CM. he's much more defensively minded when playing on the left hand side, and he'll get more involved in the defensive phase, especially when it comes to him progressing the ball from deep.
Cont.

His ball progressions are important, especially in a team where they need a passing outlet from deep, but he doesn't operate as well as Xhaka in this part of the pitch, he needs more chances to play in an advanced role, and play almost as a #8/box to box midfielder.
Guendouzi as a Right Sided DM/CM:

This is the role where he should be playing for the foreseeable future. He gets involved a bit less in the first phase of the pitch, but controls the right half space, and he's able to help the right winger/right back much more.
Cont.

He's Arsenals best option on the right side of central midfield, even better than Torreira and Ceballos. He can cover more ground than both players, and needs less touches to have a greater impact. This is definitely his position
To summarise, he's Arsenal's best option on the right hand side of central midfield. His acceleration & dribbling make him a good player to play against deep blocks. His passing ability Is on par with Xhaka's. He must be Arteta's go to midfielder for the long term
