THREAD: Do you want to know why I refuse to be silent in the face of what mainstream “LGBTQ+” voices say about gender and sex now on Twitter? Because they’re purporting to speak for me, and they don’t tolerate dissent. It’s the fucking Rainbow Borg–assimilate or be destroyed.
It took as long as it has for me to start showing my spine because I honestly don’t WANT to hurt anyone, especially not the vulnerable. But I will *not* be forced to agree with concepts that I find patently insane nor nod along while pseudoscientific garbage is spewed everywhere.
I can’t speak up at work, because “our workplace is an inclusive environment for all." Disagreeing with how best to be inclusive means that you are against minorities by default. I see your trap, Franz Kafka, so I stay silent. The risk isn't worth jeopardizing the job I love.
I DO speak up (rarely) with friends and family, and it has shown who my real friends are and who was so small-minded that they couldn’t tolerate any level of disagreement in their interactions.
Even then, I still self-censor. Do I really want to spoil what little time we adults have with my family by arguing over stuff that should matter less than my relationships with them? No. So yet again, I stay silent a majority of the time.
And now lately this mind virus is even infecting the sobriety meetings I attend as a recovering meth addict. It's not a gay men's meeting anymore even though 95% of our members are gay men. Men's spaces can't be described as such, even if you always said everyone welcome. Bigot!
Oh and now of course everyone has to announce their preferred pronouns at the start of the meeting! Yeah sure, let's inject a specific political ideology into a space that's supposed to be about staying clean. Let's wedge dividers in where unity is key, shall we?
So here on the Twatter, where very few people who know me in real life follow me, yes I fucking will speak up. The critical theory, SJW, Progressive™ type ideologies are NOT representative of all gay people as a whole and do NOT speak for me. Fuck off.
Those of us who rail against this do so because we know that you don't get your rights by making enemies of the majority. You don't gain acceptance by saying "die cis scum" or "if you need your sexual partners to have a dick that's transphobia!"
So in closing, yes, if you choose to make something a "you're with us or against us" proposition, then I am against you. I will not have my compassion abused by those playing power games & I am not responsible for your need for validation–seek it elsewhere.
