Many men find the idea of sleeping with lots of young, fertile women deeply alluring. Polygamy is male nature in much the way wanting to hit someone when duly frustrated is human nature.

But violent societies, much like polygamous societies, yield inferior social outcomes.

What is the point in saying this?

The point is people are susceptible to the naturalistic fallacy. They will argue a harmful thing is desirable because "it is only natural" when truth be told, the inability to repress your animal instincts is regressive and uncivilised.

You cannot be opposed to hypergamy but permissive of polygamy without being a glaring hypocrite - for each is a different side of the same coin

When monogamy isn't the rule, women will pick the select few men with the best genes/most resources, whilst said men horde them for sex

Is this scalable? No.

Is "being in the top 10%" a scalable strategy for men as a whole? No.

Will your people and your nation enter a golden age with these mating practices instituted? No.

Will art, engineering and scientific discovery all flourish? No

Sacrifices must be made.
