You know, about 3 years ago I got a bug in my ass about the question of 'which party *really* does a better job of managing the economy?'. So I downloaded 70 years of Federal Reserve Z1 reports and calculated the inflation-adjusted growth of our National Net Worth.
Now, I'm not a quant, nor do I play one on TV. But... the answer was obvious: The Republicans sucked at generating wealth compared to the Democrats.

On an annualized basis, for the issue of growing actual *net worth* of the United States 5 of the top-6 post-war Presidential administrations were Democrats.
Reagan, seen as an economic God, ranked 8th, barely above Jimmy Carter.
5 of the worst 6 were Republican admins.

I decided to do NNW as it truly represents growth in *wealth*, not income. I feel that GDP is not as worthwhile a measure as it does not take into account *why* the GDP changes.
Effectively, GDP measures income, NNW measures wealth. Hence my focus on NNW.
