On #COVID2019, @BorisJohnson said:

“One of the theories is perhaps you could take it on the chin, take it all in one go & allow #coronvirus to move through the population without really taking as many draconian measures.”

This is a CRAZY theory! #COVID19

JOURNALISTS TAKE NOTE:
"I must apologize for underestimating the extent of this situation."

#Italy: Journalists are apologising for not taking the threat of #coronavirus as seriously as they should've done.

Don't make the same mistake #COVID2019 #COVID19 https://twitter.com/simonespetia/status/1236933605601030144
A very sobering thread from an ICU doctor in Bergamo, #Italy warning against complacency in the face of #COVID19. #coronavirus #COVID2019 #COVID2019uk #coronavirusuk https://twitter.com/silviast9/status/1236933818654896129?s=21 https://twitter.com/silviast9/status/1236933818654896129
The PM is NOT advocating this theory.

He says: “We need to strike a balance” btw this theory & what he calls “draconian measures”.

But this absurd theory does not counterbalance the idea of shutting schools/cancelling public events etc.

This is called the ‘balance fallacy’.
In the movies, the only time we come together as a single human race is when we are threatened by aliens, asteroids or a global pandemic.

Here’s hoping that the #coronavirus crisis might help us to see beyond our differences & national borders & to recognise our common humanity.
For the full context of this see 6 mins 30.

The PM does NOT advocate "taking on the chin." He says "I think it would be better if we take all the measures that we can now just to stop the peak of the disease being as difficult for the NHS as it might.”
The original clip was taken down by the person who posted it. There was nothing wrong with the clip, but he'd wrongly suggested in his tweet that Boris was advocating the "taking it on the chin" theory. #Covid_19 #coronavirus #COVID19 #herdimmunity #Covid https://twitter.com/StefSimanowitz/status/1238021922677538819
