Are we ready to discuss why Randy is lowkey the second most talented Jackson but got demoted to third/fourth due to lack of output and commercial success
We are? Good! Randy created this melody on his own at 16. This was the group’s biggest hit as “The Jacksons”.
A lot of people would be scared here....Michael wasn’t even allowed to write songs at 16. Whew
Again at 16, helped Michael pen this song. Tbh when did Michael write deep autobiographical lyrics after this until like maybe...Dangerous? Screaming
Let’s go to the Triumph album. Randy still a teenager. Has 5 writing credits out of the 9 songs. Was in a terrible car crash between the recording of this album that almost debilitated him for life. And tbhhhhhh he helped pen the BEST songs on the album lmfao. Besides HH
What other Jacksons song did Michael still perform other than Heartbreak Hotel after he went completely solo?
Lovely One...co-written by RANDY

Also can we talk about how Randy kinda stomped over Michael singing like three seconds of “Got To Be There”. Michael said...CUT the cameras...deadass!!!!
Guess who was shooting in the gym with Michael helping lay down percussion on the Off The Wall album demos...Randy. With Janet healing too nearly about to curse him out

Again he’s about 17 here

Let’s talk about how Randy is responsible for writing and singing and likely producing the BEST song on the Victory album...One More Chance.
This was in 1984. Janet liked the song so much she covered it and made it the b-side TI her hit single “If” in 1993
One of Randy’s best accomplishments....making his sister LaToya sound great on a BOP. He produced this song and you can hear him sing a few lines with her here
2300 Jackson Street is the only Jacksons album that exists without Michael as part of the group.
Guess who was the lead singer of the best song on the album?
RANDY!!!
OUTSUNG Jermaine, OUTSUNG Janet, OUTSUNG Michael (on select occasions):

This ain’t about his talent but a quick aside...can we have a discussion about how fine Randy was in the 2300 Jackson Street video? In that vest?!!! The little eyebrow raise...whew
A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD BE SCARED HERE. Between 1989 and 1991...five Jacksons released New Jack Swing albums....
Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation
Randy & The Gypsies - Randy & The Gypsies
Jackie Jackson - Be The One
You Said - Jermaine Jackson
Michael Jackson - Dangerous

You Said - Jermaine Jackson
Michael Jackson - Dangerous
Of course which ever album is your favorite is up to you. But I MUST SAY!! Not only was Randy TIMELY to the New Jack Swing party (unlike Michael and Jermaine), his album was AMAZING! And does not get the props it deserves

This clip has a few of Randy’s songs from his “Randy & The Gypsies album” (minus the second song She from 2300 Jackson Street). Listen for yourselves...vocals, musician ship, charisma. SUCH a show man. Should have had MUCH bigger success
I conclude this talk by saying that Steven Randall Jackson probably had the greatest musicality of all the Jacksons had a multi-talented musician, but his true potential went completely untapped. He wasn’t in the Jackson 5, but put respect on his name. He made his mark!
