Some who speak of Madiba having sold out have never been with Madiba in engagement with the NP and its surrogate the IFP. They don’t know how close we were to a civil war. It’s not what you could do but what the other side could do to destabilize the country.

You don’t have to take my word for it but see how in the end, MPLA and Frelimo had to negotiate with UNITA and Renamo in the end, after many lives had been lost. We didn’t reach it but the NP, IFP and Gxozo nearly took us there: Bisho massacre, Boupatong, Shobashobane, etc
Even a day before the elections Bomba were exploded around the Reef and near ANC offices. Sane after the elections. In fact many died after Mandela’s release and the unbanning if the ANC, all aimed at derailing the negotiations process. And of course the murder of Chris Hani
It would help to watch Madiba dressing down FW both at Codesa 1 and election debate. Or when the NP and business with some in the ANC sought to impose the lock out in the construction. In fact @tito_mboweni threatened to resign unless cabinet and ANC backed him on it. Madiba did
When IFP and Zwelithini marched Cato Shell House he called for its defence. And during the commission he said I gave the order to defend it including shooting if necessary. That’s not the actions of a sell out. At least to me
We led with him as President of the country two strikes against business and the DA. One on lock out in constitution and the DA and iFP other in LRA. In one of these Gibson list his hat. Buthelezi called me a buffalo and we soldiered on.
Codesa only paved the way for the elections, the Interim constitution and the dismantling of the bantustans. The final constitution is a framework for social and economic transformation. It is up to the government of the day with people taking mass action to realize it
You do not win on the table what you couldn’t win in battle. Check African Communist, Mayibuye and the Shopstewsrd after the elections. We all said it’s a beachhead but not yet Uhuru @RaymondSuttner @NeilColemanSA @chrisvick3 @nombonisogasa
