I learned only recently that back in the 70s Terry Jones provided startup money for 'The Vole', an eccentric environmental magazine that somehow brought together Richard Mabey, Ralph Steadman, Posy Simmonds, Richard Ingrams, Lewis Thomas and Paul Foot, among others.
Here's what @newscientist made of the first issue. "This does not feel like a short-lived magazine for freaks who take themselves altogether too seriously."
